Grand Canyon – My First Visit To One Of The Seven Natural Wonders Of The World

Recently returning from a very ‘cool’ – I mean literally freezing – trip to the good old United States of America it suddenly dawned on me I had just visited one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

That is the Grand Canyon! Let me tell you it is very grand. But first we must clarify as there are a few different lists according to Wikipedia on the world wonders and I’ll be using this one;

Seven Natural Wonders by CNN

Aurora Borealis
Harbor of Rio de Janeiro
Grand Canyon
Great Barrier Reef
Mount Everest
Paricutin
Victoria Falls

So The Grand Canyon is 446 km long, up to 29 km wide and attains a depth of over 1,800 meters; it’s a big orange hole in the ground, although saying this doesn’t do it justice.

In my opinion it’s the most peaceful part of America you’ll probably ever get to visit, it also has some of the cleanest air in the United States too. We rented a car and drove there from Vegas in one day, which is possible however I would suggest staying nearby as the $25USD admission to drive into the reserve is valid for seven days. But if you’re time poor you can do it in a day from Vegas, it’s about six hours return although there is the Hoover Dam and other places – like Williams Town!! – to stop and visit on the way so it takes a while.

I’m on top of the world #GrandCanyon #usa
